About the position

The Field Engineer II at MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group is responsible for overseeing and executing project controls and management across multiple disciplines. This role involves direct support to Craft Superintendents, managing project schedules, contract administration, procurement, and project reporting. The Field Engineer II will interface with various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and project execution while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
  • Provide contract-required reports to clients on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Understand and follow the Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety plan.
  • Perform quantity calculations and determine the percentage of completed materials and work.
  • Develop processes for creating and reviewing work plans and work packages.
  • Ensure the site quality plan is communicated and inspections are completed on time.
  • Manage daily labor timesheets and compile weekly Average Labor Rate reports.
  • Train craft and staff employees on completing Job Safety Analysis (JSA's).
  • Participate in or lead jobsite safety reviews and safety training.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries, developing procurement status reports.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
  • Assist Engineers in gathering and preparing data for various stakeholders.
  • Prepare field-issued purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Direct home office procurement and subcontract administration functions.
  • Supervise subcontractor operations and manage project recordkeeping.
  • Create and monitor project controls such as productivity tracking and risk logs.
  • Generate change orders and as-built data for review by the Project Manager.
  • Lead the budgeting process and assist with cost forecasting for the project.
  • Establish cash flow forecasts to ensure positive cash flow for the project.
  • Act as the primary company representative in the absence of the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering plans and contract documents.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
