About the position

Leidos is seeking Field Engineering Technicians to conduct field inspections of utility poles in the Western Massachusetts region. This remote role requires candidates to live in the Pittsfield area and involves significant outdoor work, data collection, and communication with field engineers to document maintenance concerns for utility poles. Technicians will have flexible work hours and may occasionally need to stay overnight depending on workload.

Responsibilities

  • Travel around Western Massachusetts to collect data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles.
  • Document maintenance concerns identified by clients and collect necessary data for design solutions.
  • Meet weekly goals and communicate status and progress effectively to supervisors.
  • Perform field-related work, which requires significant walking and outdoor exposure year-round.
  • Follow Leidos safety procedures and report daily progress.

Requirements

  • High School diploma minimum requirement.
  • Experience within the power distribution field or an AS/BS in engineering (or related STEM field) preferred.
  • Prior experience in field work and distribution component identification is ideal.
  • Ability to work in both team and independent environments and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards is helpful.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to utilize a cell phone and 8MP camera.
