About the position

The Field Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist) position at Atlas Technical Consultants involves performing fieldwork related to environmental projects, including due diligence, remediation, and industrial hygiene. The role requires collaboration with senior managers and participation in professional organizations, while promoting a safety-first culture and delivering high-quality client services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field work related to environmental, due diligence, remediation, and industrial hygiene projects in Indiana and regionally.
  • Prepare boring logs, document monitoring well construction details, and collect soil, soil gas, and groundwater samples.
  • Work closely with the Environmental Department Manager and Environmental Senior Managers to perform requested client/project tasks.
  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations appropriate for core skill set and client needs.
  • Positively interact with internal and external clients, service partners, and contractors.
  • Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members toward providing client-centric services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, Geology, Engineering, Geography, or other applied science.
  • 0-5 years in the environmental consulting field is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Must be safety conscious and able to comply with Atlas' rigorous safety standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently or in a team setting.
  • Excellent problem solving and general scientific evaluation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 40-hr HAZWOPER training and 8-hour annual refresher, preferred.
  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, assessment, and corrective action statistics, preferred.
