About the position

The Field Health Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the NJ Family Care Program by conducting community presentations, providing information and assistance to beneficiaries, and processing eligibility applications. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct presentations throughout the community on the NJ Family Care Program.
  • Meet with groups or individuals to provide information on NJ Family Care.
  • Assist beneficiaries with program information, enrollment, and eligibility assistance.
  • Process eligibility applications and determine eligibility for the NJ Family Care program.
  • Refer potentially eligible beneficiaries to DMAHS for Medicaid review.
  • Enter eligibility information into a web-based computer system.
  • Follow up with beneficiaries through correspondence and file updates.
  • Assess service/information and maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Handle customer interactions professionally via phone or in-person.
  • Adhere to changes in policy and procedure and uphold them among peers.
  • Conduct presentations to educate consumers about the NJ Family Care program.
  • Assist consumers with completing new and renewal applications.
  • Provide coverage at community events and health fairs for program education.
  • Build relationships with the community and advocacy groups.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare field.
  • Knowledge and operational experience in Medicaid and/or CHIP programs is a plus.
  • General knowledge of public health, managed care, and human services systems preferred.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and managed care programs.
  • Ability to problem solve through analysis and ongoing feedback.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
  • Experience in public health or managed care systems.
