About the position

The Field Installation Engineer position at Vaisala involves performing installations at customer sites throughout the US and Canada, primarily focusing on the pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing industries. The role requires GAMP knowledge and experience with electronic records, and it is considered a remote position with a preference for candidates residing near major airports in the Southeast region.

Responsibilities

  • Onsite installations.
  • Plan and book own travel.
  • Provide instrumentation service both by phone and/or on site.
  • Troubleshooting, configuration, and documentation of installations performed.
  • Provide instrumentation training to customers.
  • Accurately documents instrumentation service work performed.
  • Planning and scheduling work with clients.
  • Managing workload to maintain effectiveness and productivity.
  • Manage expenses and service report.
  • Assist with developing internal process improvements and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, e.g., computer science, engineering, or meteorology, preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a field engineer or technician role.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Relevant Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Certificate(s).
  • Familiarity with both wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
  • Ability to work at elevation, enclosed spaces, and in cold environments.
  • Certified training in either metrology, computers or electronics required.
  • Knowledge of low voltage analog signal wiring and basic circuit diagnostics.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills with a penchant for quality and attention to detail.
  • Current U.S. Passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 75% annually.
  • Solid customer service background with a passion for excellence in satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
