About the position

The Field Maintenance Technician position is a full-time role focused on providing exemplary maintenance services on heavy equipment to ensure that the owning and operating costs meet or exceed customer standards. The technician will utilize Holt Cat's digital tools to capture and report issues related to the operation and performance of the equipment, thereby maximizing uptime. This entry-level position typically requires less than one year of experience or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge and skills. The technician will work under immediate supervision and rely on established guidelines to perform job functions. A key aspect of this role is to provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers, aligning with Holt CAT's Vision, Values, and Mission statement. The essential functions of the position include modeling and promoting Holt's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools and processes, performing high-quality preventative field maintenance work, and conducting electronic inspections on heavy equipment. The technician will maintain and communicate a field service schedule to ensure an exceptional customer experience and will be expected to adapt to changes in schedules and timelines. Daily responsibilities also include accurately obtaining, packaging, and submitting required compartment fluid samples, maintaining the appearance and operation of the service truck, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and company standards. The technician will also be responsible for achieving a work order efficiency of 5% or higher during the reviewed time period and will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality preventative field maintenance work and electronic inspections on heavy equipment.
  • Maintain and communicate a field service schedule to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Obtain, package, and submit required compartment fluid samples daily.
  • Maintain the appearance and operation of the service truck to ensure productivity and professional representation to Holt customers.
  • Achieve a work order efficiency of 5% or higher for the reviewed time period.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety policies and comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Up to one year of experience with field or shop preventive maintenance of heavy equipment such as dozers, backhoes, front-end loaders, and excavators preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a safe driving record required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current computer software and related hardware.
  • Some knowledge of construction equipment and related equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment service manuals and lubrication charts.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance procedures and practices.
