About the position

As a Field Marketing Coordinator, your primary responsibility is to fuel the passion and excitement of Portillo's fans while attracting new guests and potential team members through engaging marketing and recruiting activities. You will be part of a small, enthusiastic Field Marketing team, where your role will involve generating brand awareness and trial through hands-on, grassroots marketing tactics, tasting events, and community engagement. As the local market expert, you will collaborate with area market managers, local restaurants, and the recruiting team to drive sales and promote employment opportunities. Your duties will also include facilitating the needs of existing area partnerships to ensure key performance indicators are met and seeking new partnership opportunities. You will be working primarily in the Indiana and Michigan markets, requiring regular travel to your restaurants approximately once per month for Indiana and every other month for Michigan locations, along with quarterly visits to the Restaurant Support Center in Oakbrook, IL. In this role, you will embody a different kind of marketer, unafraid to chase leads or get your hands dirty with executing marketing tactics. Your love for Portillo's will be a driving force in helping the brand grow. You will enable the company's purpose to create lifelong memories by igniting the senses with unrivaled food and experiences. This includes fostering a family-like atmosphere, collaborating cross-functionally to support recruiting and local restaurant sales goals, engaging with guests to gather feedback, ensuring in-restaurant merchandising is up-to-date, conducting local market research, managing budgets, and executing local store marketing campaigns. You will also organize events, actively participate in community engagement, and build relationships with local businesses and organizations for co-promotion opportunities. Additionally, you will support the Digital Marketing Manager in creating localized social media campaigns and managing engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Generate brand awareness and trial through grassroots marketing tactics and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with area market managers and local restaurants to drive sales and promote employment opportunities.
  • Facilitate the needs of existing area partnerships to meet key performance indicators.
  • Seek and vet leads for new partnership opportunities.
  • Plan and execute local store marketing campaigns to drive sales and community engagement.
  • Organize and manage on-site and off-site events, such as restaurant openings and promotional events.
  • Conduct local market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Assist in developing and tracking local marketing budgets and report on campaign effectiveness.
  • Ensure all in-restaurant marketing materials are up-to-date and displayed properly.
  • Engage with guests to gather feedback on service quality and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or higher in marketing, communications, business, or related field preferred.
  • Serve Safe Food Handlers certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to implement change in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience delivering presentations to small and medium-sized groups.
  • Experience with multi-unit operations (e.g., retail, hospitality, restaurant) preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-state employer environments preferred.
  • Experience with Asana and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid or remote working environment.
