About the position
The Mechanic position at Texas Materials involves performing inspections and repairs on various types of heavy equipment, including Ready Mix Trucks and construction machinery. The role emphasizes safety and efficiency, requiring the mechanic to analyze malfunctions, conduct routine maintenance, and ensure all equipment operates effectively. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of the company's fleet and equipment, contributing to the overall infrastructure development in Texas.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance of equipment.
- Pull oil samples and monitor oil samples.
- Perform routine maintenance of all equipment.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
- Perform all routine maintenance of company-owned equipment including water pumps, heavy equipment, and vehicles.
- Test all equipment after routine maintenance for efficiency.
- Check welds, broken parts, and structural members.
- Maintain filter stock oil and grease or lubricant supply.
- Perform record keeping of time and parts & unit inspections used on the appropriate forms.
- Plan work procedures and/or possible solutions design.
- Perform general cleaning of lube truck, work areas, and maintenance areas.
- Assist other maintenance department staff in performing necessary duties.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school preferred in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Three to six months of heavy equipment maintenance experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), class A or B, and satisfactory driving record preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with heavy construction equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
