About the position

The Field Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Woodward Steel Group, managing field personnel, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. This role involves collaboration with various teams, including design, estimating, and production, while focusing on improving field production and profitability. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and adherence to company values.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of safety programs and Woodward's company safety policy in the field.
  • Maintain relationships between Woodward Operations group and Woodward Steel group, including steel fabricators and temporary labor providers.
  • Perform job duties by following WDB's core values: Reliability, Courage, Teamwork, Determination, and Humility.
  • Identify employee training needs and discuss with the Steel Group Division Manager.
  • Coordinate projects and manpower with Iron Worker Foremen, filling in as a Foreman when necessary.
  • Assist the Office Manager in reviewing cost reports on current projects.
  • Coordinate work between Steel Group and Sheet Metal Group on projects.
  • Review estimates with Estimator and Office Manager on individual projects.
  • Ensure proper equipment is included in project estimates.
  • Maintain AISC Certification paperwork for routine audits.
  • Hire, terminate, and evaluate all Field Personnel.
  • Verify field inspections and quality control reports are performed and take corrective measures when deficiencies occur.
  • Discuss shipping and erection sequences with fabricators and field personnel.
  • Create a system to track and analyze labor units and fabricator back charges.
  • Execute and improve the Quality Control Plan.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Understanding of blueprints, welding, PEMB drawings, and project location structuring.
  • Experience with scheduling and filling out daily reports.
  • Internal motivation to sustain long productive workdays and weekends when required.

Nice-to-haves
