About the position

The Field Operations Program Manager at Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of data center projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing contractor performance. This role requires strong project management skills, technical knowledge in construction and engineering, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to achieve project goals. The position is field-based in Milwaukee and requires relocation within 50 miles of the site.

Responsibilities

  • Drive campus-based delivery solutions for new or retrofit data center facilities.
  • Analyze technical information and provide recommendations to support solutions.
  • Assist campus teams in establishing goals for project teams and measuring performance.
  • Regularly review cost and KPI metrics, invoices, and process communications to client partners.
  • Oversee timely execution of procurement activities associated with resourcing and materials for program delivery.
  • Evaluate resources and ensure adequate staffing and materials for job completion.
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors and cost managers, integrating lessons learned.
  • Provide vendor oversight and performance management by walking the construction sites daily.
  • Review and approve vendor scope of work and design review of site and building plans.
  • Facilitate the delivery of metro-based projects by making timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams.
  • Represent Microsoft as a safety leader on all construction programs, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Senior Director on emergent issues and business-critical events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year experience reading and/or writing code.
  • Experience managing large multi-faceted construction projects.
  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge.
