About the position

The Field Operations Specialist will lead disaster field activities for the Small Business Administration's Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience. This role involves overseeing staff, coordinating disaster response efforts, and ensuring effective implementation of the ODA loan program for various stakeholders, including homeowners and businesses. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and training skills to support disaster recovery operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates the activities of all SBA disaster staff assigned to the disaster.
• Assesses staffing needs and adjusts personnel at various locations, addressing personnel issues and consulting with HR.
• Gathers information to support planning and decision-making, disseminating it to Field Operations management.
• Communicates program, policy, and procedural information to Team Leads and Customer Service Representatives, ensuring timely implementation of changes.
• Plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates training presentations for Disaster employees.
• Prepares after-action reports and makes recommendations for change based on analysis.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government travel credit card.
• Favorable background investigation and credit check are required.
• Experience leading or overseeing team operations in the field.
• Experience implementing policies, guidelines, and/or procedures for a disaster or emergency program.
• Experience planning and delivering employee training.
• Experience assessing the needs of an operational program and adapting resources accordingly.
