About the position

The Field Operations Specialist position is a vital role within the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund team, providing essential support services that contribute to the success of agricultural management practices. This position is primarily focused on supporting farmer enrollment, ensuring the quality control of incoming farmer data, and conducting field compliance checks during peak seasons. The specialist will also be responsible for offering conservation and agronomic advice to enrolled farmers, thereby maintaining excellent customer relationships and fostering trust within the farming community. In this role, the Field Operations Specialist will assist in the collection and processing of agricultural management practice data, as well as field boundaries. A key responsibility will be to support the verification and validation of climate-smart practice adoption, which is crucial for the sustainability of agricultural practices. The specialist will need to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Soil & Water Outcomes Fund, helping farmers interpret and understand the outcomes-based payment structure and estimate payments based on established models. Technical assistance for agronomy and conservation practice implementation will be provided either directly or through intermediaries such as certified crop advisors or agronomy advisors. The role also involves performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on all data provided by farmers, analyzing and interpreting outcomes data received from third parties. Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to farmer engagement are essential for success in this position, as building relationships and effective communication are key competencies required for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting and processing agricultural management practice data and field boundaries.
  • Support the verification and validation of climate-smart practice adoption.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Soil & Water Outcomes Fund.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in agronomy, environmental sciences, agricultural engineering, biological sciences, or other agricultural related fields.
  • Strong understanding of Midwest cropping systems and conservation practices.
  • Capable of working in a team environment while working independently to achieve specific project deliverables.
