About the position

The Estimator position at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. involves estimating complex and large-scale construction projects, ensuring that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently while exceeding client expectations. The role requires strong analytical skills to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates, as well as effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate complex and large-scale jobs, including conceptual estimates, negotiated bids, budgets, and value engineering.
  • Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, exceeding client expectations.
  • Build relationships to understand client, designer, and subcontractor needs and expectations.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
  • Facilitate collaboration amongst team members and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development activities, presentations, and interviews.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor.
  • Understand the full scope of the project through document review and inquiries.
  • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis, qualifications, and assumptions for estimates.
  • Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection process.
  • Prepare cost comparisons and reconcile with previous estimates.
  • Ensure quality control of bids and estimates, and prepare in-house budgets and GMP.
  • Conduct contract performance reviews with Junior Estimators.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the estimating field.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • 8+ years' experience in construction.
  • 3-5+ years' experience as a construction estimator.
  • Familiarity with specialized estimating software.
  • Understanding of market conditions' influence on pricing.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • High attention to detail.
