About the position
The Field Operator position at Marathon Petroleum Corporation is responsible for monitoring and maintaining equipment related to remote crude oil stations, valve sites, and pipelines. This role involves daily operational duties associated with the gathering and transportation of crude liquids, including equipment maintenance, quality testing, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Responsibilities
- Operates production equipment, including filter vessels, environmental controls, pumps, crude gathering systems, and central tank batteries.
- Gauges tanks and checks pump action to maintain pipeline pressure within guidelines.
- Collects fluid/crude samples and conducts production and fluid tests.
- Provides maintenance and repairs to facilities and equipment.
- Practices awareness concerning issues of health, safety, and the environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must hold a valid Driver License with an excellent driving record
- Must be able to pass drug test and background check
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Knowledge of crude components and their chemical composition
- Understanding of process controls and automation
