About the position

The Field Projects Coordinator and Nomads Crew Operations Coordinator positions at the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) are designed for highly organized and self-motivated individuals with technical proficiency in trail work. These roles involve significant fieldwork, supporting seasonal trail crews, and managing multiple projects simultaneously. The Field Projects Coordinator will spend approximately 90% of their time in the field, while the Nomads Crew Operations Coordinator will spend 70-80% of their time in the field, with some remote office work. Both positions require strong decision-making skills, autonomy, and the ability to inspire and lead teams in trail maintenance and reconstruction efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support all seasonal trail crews in the field and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Make challenging decisions independently and work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate volunteer trail projects throughout the field season.
  • Act as the primary liaison between CFI's Operations Manager, volunteer groups, and trail crews.
  • Conduct project planning, reporting, and administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical trail building experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Advanced knowledge of griphoists and rigging equipment (preferred).
  • Current or ability to obtain a 'B' level USFS chainsaw certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of crosscuts and chainsaws (preferred).
