About the position

The Field Safety & Health Representative is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating safety and occupational health initiatives within the Utility Division. This role aims to promote safe work practices and conditions by assisting various stakeholders, including regional safety representatives and project managers, in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with new hire general safety orientation
  • Coordinates, conducts and documents safety meetings and on-site safety audits
  • Assists top management in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures
  • Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed
  • Works with the Safety Department to ensure OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
  • Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
  • Provides safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees, encouraging learning through feedback
  • Promotes proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Integrates safety into project plans by establishing safety goals and reinforcing safety policies and procedures
  • Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and setting priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement
  • Works with various management levels to develop, implement and monitor annual comprehensive Safety Plans
  • Assists and documents Utility Division incident investigations, including detailed RCA, sharing lessons learned, and tracking associated action items

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered
  • Construction safety experience preferred
