About the position

The Field Safety Manager II at Zachry is responsible for promoting and supporting a proactive, safe, healthy, and productive work environment at the Cheniere site in Cameron, LA. This role involves interfacing with client management and site employees, providing leadership for safety efforts, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe the working conditions of the job site to ensure safe work conditions exist.
• Take corrective action when unsafe conditions exist, including immediate correction and reporting to supervisors.
• Observe the behavior of the site workforce for unsafe acts and take immediate action to correct them.
• Report all observations of unsafe conditions and acts verbally and in writing to management.
• Assist site workforce in planning work with safety considerations.
• Assist site supervision with safety briefs, pre-task planning, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).
• Respond to incidents and accidents, providing emergency aid support as needed.
• Assist in issuing and inspecting personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate and enforce company safety policy.
• Maintain product quality and oversee day-to-day business operations.
• Provide leadership at all levels within the organization.
• Build the infrastructure by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and mentoring new talent.
• Implement company policies and define performance standards.
• Evaluate employee performance and assess department performance for improvement.
• Manage financial goals.

Requirements

• Must have High School Diploma.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience as an Industrial Safety Manager.
• Must have working knowledge of OSHA requirements and their application to construction work.
• Must be able to read and interpret complex safety documents and government requirements.
• Must have good leadership skills and the ability to work under difficult situations.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to use problem-solving skills and critical thinking to resolve safety risks.
• Must be able to perform basic computer functions including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Must be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
• Must be able to work at heights and have reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

• A.A. in Safety and Health.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Experience as a craft worker or craft supervisor on an industrial construction project.
• Certification in CHST, ASP, CSP, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, confined space, excavation, NCCER Field Safety, NCCER Safety Technology, or BCSP's certification.
