About the position

TSU ONE is seeking a Field Safety Specialist with expertise in underground gas distribution and safety training. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety procedures, conducting audits, and managing safety training for a large workforce to prevent accidents and injuries.

Responsibilities

  • Motivates a workforce of over 500 workers to practice safe operating procedures 100% of the time to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Investigates underground utility damage, personal injury, vehicle, and property damage claims.
  • Compiles data, takes photos, and prepares all pertinent forms and reports per established safety procedures and regulations to achieve reduced incident rates and costs.
  • Conducts jobsite safety audits to ensure compliance with Company safety programs, policies, and procedures as well as client-specific operating procedures and OSHA standards.
  • Documents audit results and identifies and recommends solutions to hazardous conditions.
  • Follows through to ensure 100% compliance and conformance.
  • Responds to emergency situations and conducts post-accident root cause analysis, recommending and implementing actions to drive safety improvements.
  • Arranges and/or conducts Annual Compliance Training including HAZMAT, Respirator, Fire Extinguisher, CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, and Operator Qualification Program.
  • Ensures proper use of PPE and conducts Safety Training meetings.
  • Manages the Company's Substance Abuse Prevention program.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in construction safety and the installation of underground utilities including gas and electric.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards 1910 and 1926.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
  • Certification in safety-related discipline preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Classroom-style training experience.
  • Current driver's license with a good record over the past 3 years.
  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
