About the position

The Field Safety Specialist at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is responsible for detecting, preventing, and mitigating safety risks within the organization. This role involves providing subject matter expertise on field observations, consulting on corrective action development, and collaborating with various line of businesses to address safety issues. The specialist will communicate safety trends, recommend corrective actions, and support the implementation of companywide safety initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts field and driver observations.
  • Supports accident investigation team as subject matter expert to help determine causal factors.
  • Ensures mutual collaboration with line of business and integrates safety practices at all levels of the organization.
  • Communicates safety trends and recommends safety corrective actions.
  • Coaches line of business supervisors on new safety programs.
  • Serves as a safety subject matter expert for line of business supervisors and field employees.
  • Consults with line of business supervisors on incident investigations, SIAP completion, and corrective actions development.
  • May attend safety kickoffs or morning meetings with crews to discuss new safety information.
  • May support the implementation of companywide safety initiatives developed by others.

Requirements

  • High School or GED diploma.
  • Relevant experience of 3 years.
  • Ability to have or obtain a safety professional certification (initial level) within 1 year of job placement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or a job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Safety professional certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, CHMM).
  • Electric utility field operations experience.
  • Familiarity with electric utility field operations.
