About the position

The Field Sales Engineer at OMI Industries is a pivotal role responsible for managing relationships and driving sales for the Ecosorb Industrial brand in the Northeast region of the United States. This position requires a motivated individual who can effectively communicate the benefits of OMI's natural odor removing solutions to potential customers. The Field Sales Engineer will leverage their technical skills to demonstrate the effectiveness of OMI products, which are designed to solve complex odor issues without the use of harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. In this hands-on, traveling role, the Field Sales Engineer will engage in up to 30-50% overnight travel, necessitating a strong combination of creative thinking and quantitative skills to identify growth opportunities, define strategies, and implement programs that are both brand-building and metrics-driven. The individual will prepare and deliver presentations that highlight how Ecosorb solutions and services are superior in addressing odor problems. This includes assessing customer needs, conducting on-site visits, crafting custom proposals and quotes, assisting with installations, and maintaining business relationships within the assigned territory. The Field Sales Engineer will also be responsible for managing and updating customer information and leads in the Salesforce CRM system, troubleshooting systems, making minor repairs on-site, and recommending improved materials or equipment to enhance efficiency. Collaboration with the Engineering team, Service team, Research & Development, and the Director of Industrial Sales is essential to create efficient systems for each customer that drive sales for the company. This role is integral to OMI Industries' mission of providing safe and effective odor elimination solutions, and it requires a proactive approach to building relationships and delivering value to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships and drive sales for the Ecosorb Industrial brand in the Northeast region.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations explaining how Ecosorb solutions and services are effective at solving complex odor issues.
  • Sell Ecosorb products by assessing customer needs, conducting on-site visits, crafting custom proposals and quotes, and assisting with installation and operations.
  • Visit potential customers on-site to demonstrate applications and educate them about product selection and odor management.
  • Craft unique customer proposals and quotes to influence purchasing decisions.
  • Manage and update customer information and leads in Salesforce CRM system.
  • Troubleshoot systems and perform minor repairs on-site as needed.
  • Recommend improved materials or equipment to customers to increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Service, R&D, and Sales teams to create efficient systems for customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of sales experience, with experience in Asphalt and/or Wastewater considered a plus.
  • Experience supporting a product line or division in another company selling technical products or services.
  • Proven record of successful sales transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams).
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM or equivalent tracking system.
  • Understanding of developing sales goals and projections.
  • Knowledge of chemistry, physics, math, and construction as applied to product design and systems.
  • Ability to write presentations, letters, and formulate proposals.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to communicate across various functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, HR, Senior Leadership).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30-50% overnight.
