About the position

The Field Service Automation and Robotics Engineer will be responsible for traveling to customer sites to provide support for various automation solutions, including material handling systems and robotic welding cells. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated equipment, as well as programming and deploying custom solutions. The position requires a strong background in controls and experience with Beckhoff systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites on short notice to perform troubleshooting and repair functions.
  • Complete a Field Service report for each customer service call.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robot controllers, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Maintain a service tool kit and documentation for rapid customer response.
  • Provide telephone-based troubleshooting support to customers for robot or related peripheral equipment operational problems.
  • Program robots and edit paths for related peripheral equipment to optimize system performance.
  • Conduct electrical/hydraulic pneumatic debugging, peripheral device programming, and machine PLC programming.
  • Install and repair industrial electronic equipment including I/O networks, data highways, variable speed drives, and process control equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with automated equipment build, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated/robotic cells.
  • Formal technical training in automated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting on robotic cells and PLC/HMI reprogramming Master certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate or expert proficiency in schematic interpretation, robotics, electrical troubleshooting, PLC, and HMI programming.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality.
