About the position

The Field Service Controls Engineer is responsible for supervising the installation and startup of machines at customer plants, ensuring all working components meet customer needs. This role involves traveling to customer locations to oversee machine installations and perform startups, as well as troubleshooting field issues related to warranty and repair orders. The engineer will also review ongoing jobs in the shop for potential field service problems, assist the engineering department with machine runoffs and pre-ship program checks, and perform electrical fault functions on customer machinery, including PLCs. Additionally, the engineer will work with various software systems, assist with machine debugging, train other employees and customers on machine operations, prepare service reports, and support the Field Service Supervisor as needed. Other functions may be assigned as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise installation and startup of machines at customer plants.
  • Travel to customer locations for machine installation and startup.
  • Perform field troubleshooting on warranty and repair orders.
  • Review jobs in the shop for potential field service problems.
  • Assist engineering department with machine runoffs and pre-ship program checks.
  • Perform electrical fault/functions on customer machinery, including PLC.
  • Work in various software systems.
  • Assist with machine debug and run off on the shop floor.
  • Train other employees and/or customers on machines.
  • Prepare service reports on jobs in the field.
  • Assist Field Service Supervisor when required.
  • Perform other functions as directed.

Requirements

  • College degree in electrical engineering.
  • 2-3 years of technical experience in manufacturing automation, material handling, and/or machine control.
  • Product component level knowledge and program troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information to groups of employees, customers, and vendors.
  • College level mathematics proficiency.
  • Ability to identify work process problems and propose solutions.
