About the position

Field Service Engineers at Axcelis are tasked with traveling to customer locations or being assigned to specific customer sites to ensure the effective installation, startup, diagnosis, service, and repair of Axcelis equipment. This role is critical as it serves as the primary liaison between Axcelis and its customers, addressing various administrative, technical, operational, and maintenance issues. The engineers are expected to assist customers by selling and installing equipment modifications, upgrades, and service contracts that enhance the operation of Axcelis products. Under close supervision, Field Service Engineers execute activities related to the Aftermarket business, which includes installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer-reported technical problems, and implementing solutions to prevent future operational or service difficulties. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic and mechanical problems, ensuring that the customer's facility and all support equipment are ready for the installation of new equipment, and coordinating assembly rebuilds and preventive maintenance on all Axcelis products. Additionally, these engineers interface with technical support, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams to discuss tooling, preventive maintenance procedures, and design reliability. They are also responsible for completing field service reports after each assignment using the Axcelis Business System (FSO and Insight) and must work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals during installations, debugging, and repairs. Adherence to established cleanroom cleanliness requirements, procedures, and protocols is mandatory.
