About the position

The Field Service Engineer 2 at Rapiscan is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction with the performance of Rapiscan equipment. This intermediate-level position requires advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with a significant amount of travel expected, up to 100%. The role involves performing emergency services, maintenance, customer training, and supporting new product initiatives, while also assisting in the training of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance for Rapiscan systems as requested by Field Service Managers.
  • Follow Field Service contract requirements for response time, information reporting, and customer management.
  • Communicate with customers during system corrective and preventative visits to ensure work is executed according to plan.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service Coordinators to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
  • Maintain and carry Field Service Tool Set.
  • Assist FSE 1's or peers when needed or requested.
  • Complete timely reporting of labor, expense, and materials to support service contract requirements.
  • Ensure proper distribution and storage of all required documentation per Rapiscan policy.
  • Follow company safety program requirements.
  • Provide system status updates and communicate areas of customer concern to management.
  • Carry company-provided cell phone and laptop and be on call.
  • Maintain positive control of tools, meters, and test equipment.
  • Report any quality problems or defects to management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting complex capital equipment in a service capacity; previous X-Ray experience is a plus.
  • B.S. in Electronic Technology or Engineering with Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Analog, Digital, and Mechanical systems.
  • Networking hardware and software knowledge and application skills are essential.
  • Database management and programming skills, including software/firmware protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; multi-lingual is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems (D365 preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and make logical decisions based on company guidelines.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds daily.

  • Experience with X-Ray systems is preferred.
