About the position

As a Field Service Engineer at EFI, you will play a crucial role in supporting our customers by providing on-site setup and installation of our industrial inkjet printers. This position requires you to travel to various customer locations within the Atlanta, GA region, where you will be responsible for ensuring that our printers are installed correctly and functioning optimally. Your work will involve collaborating with customers to understand their pre-installation requirements and assisting them in unloading and positioning the print systems in their facilities. In addition to installation, you will also be tasked with troubleshooting and repairing printers that may encounter complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic issues. This will involve working closely with the Field Service Manager and the EFI Inkjet customer support team to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions. You will be responsible for un-crating various components of the printer, checking electrical power and compressed air, and conducting thorough tests to ensure that the printers meet factory standards. Training is a significant aspect of this role, as you will provide both initial and ongoing training to customers on printer operation and maintenance. This includes assessing customer training needs and coordinating with them to ensure they receive the necessary support. You will also be required to document your visits and provide detailed technical feedback through the EFI Inkjet Case Management System (CMS). This position demands a flexible schedule, with travel expectations of up to 75% of your workweek, and may occasionally require weekend work to meet customer needs. Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site setup and installation of EFI industrial inkjet printers at customer locations.
  • Assist customers with pre-installation requirements and unloading components for the print system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair printers experiencing complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic problems.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing formal customer operator and printer maintenance training.
  • Provide detailed technical feedback via the EFI Inkjet Case Management System (CMS) during and after customer visits.
  • Manage a demanding schedule including travel up to 75% of the workweek and occasional weekend work.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology.
  • Minimum two years in field engineering positions servicing complex electro-mechanical devices.
  • Demonstrated customer management skills and strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to independently manage a large service territory and effectively manage assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level.
  • Ability to provide telephone technical support and communicate effectively with Product Service Engineers.
  • Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, and printing applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of materials and chemicals used in the printing industry.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage wiring and power requirements.
