About the position

As a Field Engineer at Valmet, you will play a crucial role in analyzing customer needs and providing solutions to design problems, ensuring the seamless integration of our products into customer systems or subsystems. This position is primarily focused on applying current products to enhance market penetration. Under supervision, you will engage in various tasks including analysis, implementation, testing, and documentation, all guided by application design documents and requirements specifications. Local travel within the Aiken, SC region is required as part of this role. In this position, you will serve as a junior project team member for Distributed Control System (DCS) projects, where you will implement, test, and document project applications software using Valmet product tools. You will also assist in coding and testing custom software for projects, gaining valuable experience in the project execution process, including Configuration Management and Quality Assurance procedures. Interaction with customers will be necessary to ensure project requirements are met, and you will be expected to learn and adhere to safety and quality policies throughout your work. This role is ideal for individuals who are electro-mechanically inclined, self-guided, and possess a strong work ethic. You will be working in a dynamic manufacturing plant environment, contributing to a team that values innovation and continuous development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as junior project team member for DCS projects.
  • Implement, test and document project applications software using Valmet product tools.
  • Assist in code and test of project custom software.
  • Learn project execution process and procedures including Configuration Management and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Assist in technical proposal preparation.
  • Interact with customers as required for the project.
  • Learn and follow safety and quality policies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 - 4 years related experience and/or training.
  • Familiarity with Process instrumentation, controls, PLC, and automation practices.
  • Experience with common programming languages and structures.
  • PLC Programming.
