About the position

Serco is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Ashore Program in Bethesda, MD. This role is crucial in executing the NAVFAC AT/FP Ashore Sustainment Program, which is managed by the NAVFAC AT/FP Ashore Program Management Office (PMO), NAVFAC Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC), and NAVFAC regional Facilities Engineering Commands (FECs). The primary objective of this program is to provide preventive and corrective maintenance services to Navy installations, ensuring that NAVFAC AT/FP Ashore Program Systems meet their operational requirements. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various products and equipment, including alarms, naval munitions, giant voice systems, cameras, intrusion detection systems, emergency operation centers, and more. You will also train employees, analyze and repair product failures, and recommend the best products or services to meet customer needs. This position requires a proactive approach, relying on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively. You will typically report to a supervisor or manager, and your success in this role will be contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance within 90 days of starting. The NAVFAC AT/FP Ashore Program's mission is to design, procure, integrate, install, and sustain the necessary systems and equipment to protect mission-critical assets and personnel from various threats, including natural disasters and acts of terrorism. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of Navy installations and their personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain products/equipment including alarms, naval munitions, giant voice, cameras, intrusion detection, emergency operation centers, and regional dispatch centers.
  • Train employees on equipment usage and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify, analyze, and repair product failures; order and replace parts as needed.
  • Determine and recommend which products or services best fit the customers' needs.
  • Plan and accomplish goals relying on limited experience and judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 0-1 years experience OR HS Diploma with 2 years experience in the field.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance within 90 days of start date.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to travel locally and long distance as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NASATKA electric style barriers (K12 Steel plate barriers).
  • Experience with Delta Barriers hydraulic wedge barriers.
  • Familiarity with VPMS cameras (Analog & IP).
  • Experience with Federal Signal Mass Notification System.
  • Knowledge of VTC (Video Tele-Conferencing Systems).
  • Experience with AVG (Automated Vehicle Gates).
