About the position

The Field Service Engineer at Edwards Vacuum will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our customers by utilizing their electromechanical skills. This position is integral to the Field Service team, where the engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high vacuum pumps, abatement systems, and gas and chemical delivery systems within the assigned territory. The role may also require travel outside the assigned territory to support peers and the existing install base, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service and support. In this position, the Field Service Engineer will perform a variety of tasks, including preventative maintenance on products, troubleshooting errors or failures to identify root causes, and recommending or undertaking remedial actions to restore products to their normal operating conditions. The engineer will also be responsible for demonstrating or training customers on the correct preventative maintenance and operation of equipment, commissioning and setting up equipment, and testing it to ensure optimal performance. Maintaining accurate documentation and utilizing various computer systems in the execution of work is also a key responsibility. The Field Service Engineer is expected to arrive promptly and appropriately dressed at all field locations, develop and maintain rapport with customers to ensure their satisfaction, and remain on-call as required by the customer or service agreement. Promoting a safety culture and adhering to proper safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment, is paramount in this role. The engineer will be part of a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values flexibility and competitive compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance tasks on products.
  • Troubleshoot errors or failures to root cause and recommend or undertake remedial action to restore product to normal operating condition.
  • Demonstrate or train correct PM and/or operation of equipment.
  • Commission, setup equipment, and test equipment.
  • Complete and maintain various documentation and computer systems used in the execution of work as required.
  • Arrive promptly and properly dressed at all field locations.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with customers ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Remain on-call as required by the customer and/or service agreement.
  • Promote a safety culture, practice proper Edwards safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment at all times.

Requirements

  • Requires an AS degree, full military equivalent, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in relevant technical field such as electronic, mechanical, chemical, gas, refrigeration or basic vacuum.
  • Experience in Field Service and or the Semiconductor industry is preferred.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Competent in the use of test equipment including various multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Able to read engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Possess basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet software, and databases.
  • Must have a positive attitude, energetic, enthusiastic, willingness to learn, and commitment to get the job done.
  • A self-starter who can set priorities and can demonstrate initiative.
  • Must be capable of exercising good independent judgment.
  • Possesses good customer interface and communication skills.
  • May be required to work in confined or awkward spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Semiconductor industry is preferred.
