About the position

The Field Service Engineer at Daktronics plays a crucial role in providing on-site and remote support for digital LED display technology and audio systems. This position involves working at various customer sites, primarily during events, to ensure the proper functioning of Daktronics equipment. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work in diverse environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings. The engineer will also engage in training service partners and updating technical knowledge to enhance customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service, installation, or support during events at customer sites.
  • Deliver on-site technical and maintenance services for Control Systems and Display Systems.
  • Train Service Partners to leverage technical knowledge.
  • Participate in technical training on new products and systems.
  • Create and update knowledge base articles for internal and external use.
  • Provide technical over-the-phone support to internal and external customers.
  • Respond to customer requests for technical support through calls.
  • Assist with software application installation/configuration and provide 'how-to' assistance.
  • Troubleshoot and solve hardware and software technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Visual/Broadcast system, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or a similar engineering degree with relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in various settings.
  • Capability to work positively and professionally in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a can-do attitude.
  • Strong computer skills including internet navigation, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Comfortable working from a home office location.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record; must be able to travel by air and ground.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal; multilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to work at heights or from a ladder and carry tools/parts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including extreme weather conditions.
