About the position

The position involves providing technical service support for BD medical systems and components within a designated territory. The role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction through timely maintenance and repair services, requiring extensive travel and strong mechanical/electrical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support services including installation, maintenance and repair of BD medical systems and components.
  • Assist in the development of local inventory levels by working closely with the regional distributor and dealers to assess service requirements.
  • Manage service contracts with key accounts to ensure service levels are achieved.
  • Interface between customers, dealers, sales representatives and BD to resolve service issues.
  • Conduct training sessions at customer sites and at trade shows to improve understanding of products and applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of service activities.
  • Plan daily schedule to improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Ensure safe storage and transportation of parts and equipment.
  • Perform additional assignments not listed above if requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent field service experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business procedures, technical processes and regulatory codes.
  • Basic computer knowledge required, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience using software diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand complex technical information and communicate it simply to others.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders, and perform other routine service functions.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license required.

  • Prior experience working with medical devices.
  • Prior experience working with automated laboratory instrumentation.
  • Prior experience solving electrical, electronic and/or mechanical problems.
  • Prior experience performing repairs on equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices.
  • Familiarity with lab operations.
  • Training in basic networking principles.
  • Training in basic IT.
