About the position

As a Field Service Engineer at Optos, you will be responsible for providing exceptional field service support to our customer base in the Charlotte, NC area. Your primary duties will include the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of Optos instrumentation, ensuring that our customers are well-trained in the use and care of their equipment. You will also play a crucial role in supporting marketing shows when required, representing Optos and showcasing our products and services to potential clients. In this role, you will plan the installation of new customer sites by collaborating with our in-house field support team and conducting pre-installation conference calls with customers. Your focus will be on delivering optimum customer satisfaction with all Optos products and services. You will be tasked with installing, repairing, and retrofitting Optos instrument products, as well as providing support on the operational aspects of the instruments, equipment, and software. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining wired computer networks, completing and submitting all regulatory and company-required documentation, and providing remote diagnosis and repair support when necessary. You will also relay any field repetitive failures or quality issues to our internal support specialists, ensuring that all repair parts are on-site when needed and that all related CRM transactions are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner. Testing repaired instruments in all operating modes per specification will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan installation of new customer sites by liaising with in-house field support team and conducting a pre-installation conference call with the customer
  • Provide optimum customer satisfaction on all Optos products and services
  • Install, repair, perform preventive maintenance, and retrofit Optos instrument products
  • Support customers on the operational aspects of the instrument, equipment and software
  • Install and maintain wired computer networks
  • Complete and submit all Regulatory and company required documentation
  • Provide remote diagnosis/repair support when needed
  • Relay field repetitive failures/quality issues to internal support specialists
  • Ensure that all repair parts are on site when needed and all related CRM transactions are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Test repaired instruments in all operating modes per specification
  • Represent Optos at technical shows and exhibitions as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education gained through work experiences
  • Previous field service experience in the medical device industry is a plus
  • Basic wired and wireless network integration experience
  • Skilled in instrument operation, test, maintenance, alignment, and repair procedure
  • Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and within tight timescales
  • An ability to work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Strong team player with flexible attitude to work priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills (MS Office applications)

Benefits

  • $60,000 - $62,000 base with overtime pay
  • Participation in the Field Service Incentive plan
  • Average total income $80-90K
