About the position

Peerless Pump Company, a subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Field Service Engineer specializing in fire systems to join our commercial team. This role is pivotal in providing field service applications, system diagnostics, and commissioning of fire pump systems. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality service to our customers, ensuring that all fire pump systems are operational and compliant with safety standards. This position operates out of our Indianapolis, IN facility and reports directly to the Senior Customer Success Manager. The role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work, but candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support, as relocation cannot be accommodated. In this role, you will provide technical expertise to end-users and sales channel partners, ensuring the successful start-up, commissioning, and re-commissioning of fire pump systems. You will also be responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of FireConnect systems, performing system diagnostics, and providing analysis and recommendations based on customer needs. Your innovative ideas will contribute to the growth of our parts and service business, and you will engage in field diagnostic services, including laser alignment and vibration analysis. Additionally, you will support key accounts by developing site survey formats and economic justifications for new equipment. Training end-users as per contractual agreements and providing technical support to resolve issues will be essential parts of your responsibilities. You will maintain a professional image that reflects Peerless Pump's values and document service visits with detailed reports and visual evidence. Your role will also involve promoting Peerless products and services, participating in sales opportunities, and identifying additional service opportunities that can lead to increased sales.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to end-users.
  • Provide fire pump system start up, supervised start-up, commissioning, and re-commissioning services to end users and sales channel partners.
  • Provide FireConnect installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, controller commissioning, electronics diagnostics services to end users and channel partners.
  • Provide system diagnostics, analysis and recommendations as required by customers.
  • Develop innovative ideas for the growth of parts and service business through service related activities.
  • Perform field diagnostic service such as laser alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Provide in-depth support to sales for the key accounts program including the development of site survey formats, economic justifications for new equipment, etc.
  • Provide technical sales support as required from time to time to key account customers.
  • Understand all Peerless product lines and perform repair, start up, installation and removal of all product lines.
  • Provide training to end users as required by contractual agreements.
  • Provide a source of general technical and business advice and guidance, specific and general to Management team that is specific to field service.
  • Provide knowledge and expert advice to Service department and co-workers.
  • Maintain a professional image to reflect Peerless Pump in the best possible light.
  • Document service visits with written trip reports & visual evidence as necessary.
  • Promote and advocate Peerless products and services as situations permit.
  • Perform work, promote teamwork, and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
  • Participate in sales opportunities as required by management.
  • Identify additional service opportunities that lead to additional sales.
  • Provide technical support to end users and resolve technical problems.
  • Develop service literature, service technical bulletins, etc.
  • Participate in the update / development of IOMs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical subject preferred.
  • 10+ years relevant sales/commercial/technical experience considered in lieu of technical degree.
  • Very high communication skills - written and verbal. Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Should have a valid US Passport.
  • Computer literacy essential on all normal Office applications.
