About the position

Peerless Pump Company, a subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Field Service Engineer specializing in fire applications to join our commercial team. This position is crucial for providing field service applications, system diagnostics, and fire pump system commissioning. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality service to our customers, ensuring that fire pump systems are installed, commissioned, and maintained to the highest standards. The role requires a strong technical background and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. The position operates out of our Indianapolis, IN facility in a hybrid capacity, allowing for both in-office and remote work. Candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support, as relocation cannot be accommodated. In this role, you will provide technical expertise to end-users and sales channel partners, ensuring that fire pump systems are operational and compliant with safety standards. You will conduct system diagnostics, analysis, and provide recommendations based on customer needs. Additionally, you will be involved in the installation and commissioning of FireConnect systems, offering troubleshooting and controller commissioning services. Your responsibilities will also include developing innovative ideas to enhance our parts and service business, performing field diagnostic services such as laser alignment and vibration analysis, and providing in-depth support to key accounts. The Field Service Engineer will maintain a professional image of Peerless Pump, documenting service visits with detailed reports and visual evidence. You will promote Peerless products and services, participate in sales opportunities, and identify additional service opportunities that can lead to increased sales. Training end-users as per contractual agreements and providing technical support to resolve issues will also be part of your duties. This role is integral to our commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction, and you will be expected to embody our corporate standards in safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to end-users.
  • Conduct fire pump system start-up, supervised start-up, commissioning, and re-commissioning services.
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and provide diagnostics for FireConnect systems.
  • Perform system diagnostics, analysis, and provide recommendations to customers.
  • Develop innovative ideas for the growth of parts and service business through service-related activities.
  • Conduct field diagnostic services such as laser alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Support sales for key accounts, including developing site survey formats and economic justifications for new equipment.
  • Provide technical sales support to key account customers as needed.
  • Understand all Peerless product lines and perform repair, start-up, installation, and removal of products.
  • Train end-users as required by contractual agreements.
  • Provide general technical and business advice to the management team.
  • Document service visits with written trip reports and visual evidence.
  • Promote and advocate Peerless products and services as appropriate.
  • Participate in sales opportunities as required by management.
  • Identify additional service opportunities that lead to increased sales.
  • Provide technical support to end-users and resolve technical problems.
  • Develop service literature and technical bulletins.
  • Participate in the update/development of IOMs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in a technical subject preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant sales/commercial/technical experience considered in lieu of a technical degree.
  • International travel experience preferred.
  • Very high communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Valid US Passport required.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Computer literacy essential on all normal Office applications.
