About the position

The Field Service Representative (FSR) at Varian Medical Systems is responsible for ensuring that customer equipment operates efficiently by providing service and repair support. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, installing, upgrading, and performing preventative maintenance on designated VMS equipment. The FSR operates within a specific service territory and is the primary contact for customer service, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively to prioritize customer requests and maintain relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all designated VMS equipment within an assigned service territory.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades according to VMS guidelines.
  • Manage time and maintain a schedule for service calls and preventative maintenance.
  • Assess and prioritize the urgency of customer requests and follow through to completion.
  • Escalate incidents when necessary and request additional assistance from more experienced representatives.
  • Maintain effective territory management and expense control, including timely completion of reports.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Degree or Equivalent.
  • Preferred Associate degree, technical/vocational training, or military experience with electronics and 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Sound knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical engineering principles.
  • Professional experience with testing equipment for verification and calibration of electronic equipment.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and solving moderately complex mechanical problems.
  • Ability to identify and repair routine software and network problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business tools such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product.
