About the position

The Field Service Engineer II role at Applied Materials is designed for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting hardware and solving complex problems. This position involves working both in a state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, where the engineer represents Applied Materials and plays a crucial role in supporting the technology used to manufacture semiconductor chips. The role includes installing, maintaining, and upgrading equipment, ensuring world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Upgrade equipment as necessary.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training.
  • Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and environmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an Associate's Degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.
