About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing the performance of equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. This position requires you to work both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, making you the face of Applied Materials and a vital part of a diverse and dynamic team. Our training program equips Field Service Engineers with the skills necessary to support the technology that is essential for the production of semiconductor chips and related materials. You will collaborate closely with global customers to install, maintain, and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, ensuring they receive world-class support for their multimillion-dollar production systems. In this role, you will assist senior engineers in installing cutting-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance, and executing corrective maintenance and upgrades. You will follow established procedures and task plans learned during training to test equipment and diagnose technical issues. Completing required job documentation and safety training is essential, as is adhering to the company's and customers' on-site requirements, including safety and environmental guidelines. Your professionalism and customer-first mindset will be key in representing Applied Materials effectively to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing leading-edge customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Upgrade customer equipment as needed.
  • Follow procedures learned during training and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training.
  • Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an Associate's Degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.
