About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing equipment performance. This role involves working both in a state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, where you will represent the company and support the technology essential for semiconductor manufacturing. You will receive training to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment, ensuring world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Upgrade equipment as needed.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training.
  • Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and environmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an Associate's Degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.
