About the position

We have an exciting new job opportunity working for the world leader in the scientific community! As a Field Service Engineer II specializing in Chromatography, you will be responsible for performing on-site installation and preventive maintenance of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometer (MS) equipment at customer labs. This role requires a multifaceted individual who can resolve problems and work directly with clients, forming interpersonal relationships over time. You will be working remotely from your home office, with up to 75% travel within the Pacific Northwest. In this position, you will handle personal parts inventories, complete job tasks, and service reports using service ticket management software. You will also train customers on Chromatography and MS equipment and software, ensuring effective communication between the customer and the company to provide excellent service. Regular attendance at factory-provided technical and service training on the newest innovative products developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific is essential. You must be team-focused, working in conjunction with Service and Sales teams, and be able to review customer data and run factory protocols to troubleshoot instrumentation. Sharing diagnostic information with engineering, factory, field service, management, and other personnel will be crucial to expedite repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation and preventive maintenance of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometer (MS) equipment at customer labs.
  • Handle personal parts inventories, complete job tasks, and complete service reports using service ticket management software.
  • Train customers on Chromatography and MS equipment and software.
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  • Regularly attend factory provided technical and service training on newest innovative products developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Work in conjunction with Service and Sales teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Review customer data and run factory protocols to troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Share diagnostic information with engineering, factory, field service, management, and other personnel to expedite repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of user maintenance on Chromatography or Mass Spectrometer equipment experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in reviewing technical bulletins and factory communications to stay up to date.
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely completion of service reports, expense reports, and other administrative tasks.
