About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment at customer sites globally. This position requires extensive travel (70% - 90%) and involves troubleshooting hardware and solving complex technical problems. You will be the face of the company, representing Applied Materials while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Upgrade equipment as necessary.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and COVID-19 guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or military technical training with field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.
