About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment at customer sites globally. This position requires extensive travel (70% - 90%) and involves troubleshooting hardware and solving complex technical problems. You will be trained to support the technology that is essential for semiconductor chip production, ensuring that multimillion-dollar production systems operate efficiently. Your role will also involve adhering to safety and environmental guidelines while representing the company professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Upgrade equipment as necessary.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training.
  • Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and COVID-19 guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or military technical training with field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.
