About the position

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking an ambitious and proven Engineer II to join our world-class team as a Field Service Engineer. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of field service support, customer relationship management, and providing detailed reports to the customer. Your work will involve providing complete services on Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) equipment systems, including installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualifications. You will also collaborate with the Service Team to deliver technical expertise and ensure high customer satisfaction. This position is remote and primarily focuses on Central and Eastern PA, specifically Philadelphia. You will have the opportunity to travel to various customer labs across the region to perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and validation of equipment systems. In addition, you will provide phone, augmented reality, and live support to resolve customer service requests.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of field service support for LC-MS equipment systems.
  • Provide installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualifications for analytical equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Service Team to deliver technical expertise and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Provide detailed reports to customers regarding service activities and equipment status.
  • Travel to various customer labs across Central and Eastern PA for on-site support.
  • Utilize phone, augmented reality, and live support to resolve customer service requests.

Requirements

  • Minimum educational requirement of a BS and/or graduate degree in Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience operating analytical equipment, specifically chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience with method development and analytical chemistry is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% overnight for domestic travel.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or outside regular business hours, and/or on-call work.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move 100+ pounds with a lifting team.
