About the position

The Field Service Engineer II (C2) role is designed for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting hardware and solving complex problems in the semiconductor industry. This position involves working both in a state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, where the engineer represents Applied Materials and plays a crucial role in supporting the technology used to manufacture semiconductor chips. The role requires extensive travel, with responsibilities including installation, maintenance, and upgrades of high-value production systems, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance
• Upgrade equipment as necessary
• Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment
• Diagnose and resolve technical problems
• Complete required job documentation and safety training
• Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers
• Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and environmental guidelines

Requirements

• An associate degree or completion of military technical training
• 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or equipment support
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics
• Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport
