About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing the performance of equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. This position involves working both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, where you will represent Applied Materials and be part of a dynamic and diverse team. Our Field Service Engineers are trained to support the technology that is essential for the production of semiconductor chips and related materials, which are vital to various industries. You will collaborate closely with global customers to install, maintain, and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, ensuring they receive world-class support for their multimillion-dollar production systems. In this role, you will assist senior engineers with the installation of cutting-edge customer equipment, perform scheduled preventative maintenance, and carry out corrective maintenance as needed. You will follow established procedures and published task plans to test equipment, diagnose issues, and resolve technical problems effectively. Completing required job documentation and safety training is essential, as is adhering to the company's and customers' on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines. Your ability to maintain a customer-first mindset will be key in professionally representing Applied Materials to our clients. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies preferred. You should possess the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, along with clear communication skills for documenting details. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic mechanical aptitude in areas such as pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics is also necessary. Knowledge of hand tools and their proper usage, including a digital multimeter, is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies, or equivalent work experience, or completion of military technical training and field experience.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
