About the position

The Field Service Engineer II (C2) - Install Team is responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading Applied Materials equipment at customer sites globally. This role requires extensive travel (70% - 90%) and involves troubleshooting hardware and solving complex problems to ensure optimal equipment performance. The engineer will represent Applied Materials professionally while adhering to safety and environmental guidelines, and will be trained to support technology critical to semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
• Upgrade equipment as necessary.
• Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
• Complete required job documentation and safety training.
• Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers.
• Satisfy on-site requirements including safety and COVID-19 guidelines.

Requirements

• An associate degree or military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate degree.
• 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with fluid dynamics and working with hazardous wet chemistries.
• Experience with CMP or wet benches is highly preferred.
