About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II on the Install Team at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing equipment performance. This position involves significant travel (70% - 90%) to customer sites globally, where you will install, maintain, and upgrade advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will be trained to support technology that is essential for producing semiconductor chips, ensuring world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment and performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training procedures for processing parts.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate's degree.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with fluid dynamics and working with hazardous wet chemistries.
  • Experience with CMP or wet benches is highly preferred.
