About the position

As a Field Service Engineer for Bio-Rad's Global Commercial Operations Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare advancements by providing essential assistance to hospitals and laboratories throughout the Columbus, Ohio region. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments. This ensures that the equipment operates at optimal quality, which is vital for the customers who rely on it to make significant scientific breakthroughs in healthcare research and treatments. In this position, you will be expected to respond to emergencies and may occasionally assist staff in surrounding states. Your thorough knowledge of Bio-Rad's products will enable you to advocate for customers effectively and deliver the highest levels of service and support. You will be required to travel up to 50% of the time, utilizing a company-provided vehicle to reach various locations. Your role will also involve building and sustaining strong relationships with customers, allowing you to anticipate their needs and provide tailored support. Adhering to FDA and GMP regulations is essential, and you will be responsible for maintaining detailed records and service documentation to protect Bio-Rad's integrity and reputation in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide support to customers in surrounding states.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with customers to anticipate and advocate for their needs.
  • Adhere to FDA and GMP regulations with detailed record keeping and service documentation.

Requirements

  • A.S. or B.S. in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or military equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of transferable field service experience servicing electro-mechanical/electronic/optical/robotics equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and successfully follow medium to highly complex work instructions.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong computer skills and fundamental knowledge of computer networking.
  • Strong customer relation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for daily travel.

Nice-to-haves
