About the position

As a Field Service Engineer for Bio-Rad's Global Commercial Operations Group, you will play a crucial role in providing essential assistance and care to customers in hospitals and laboratories across the New England region. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments. This ensures that our equipment operates at peak performance, which is vital for the healthcare professionals who depend on it to advance medical research and treatments. You will also be expected to respond to emergencies and may occasionally assist staff in other regions, leveraging your in-depth knowledge of our products to advocate for customers and deliver exceptional service and support. In this role, you will be traveling up to 50% of the time, utilizing a company-provided vehicle to reach various locations. Your work will involve not only technical skills but also the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers. By understanding and anticipating their needs, you will be able to provide tailored support that enhances their experience with our products. Adhering to FDA and GMP regulations is critical, and you will be responsible for maintaining detailed records and service documentation to uphold Bio-Rad's integrity and reputation in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide support to customers in various regions.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with customers to anticipate and advocate for their needs.
  • Adhere to FDA and GMP regulations, maintaining detailed records and service documentation.
  • Ensure the quality performance of instruments for customers working to advance healthcare.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of transferable field service experience servicing electro-mechanical/electronic/optical/robotics equipment.
  • An A.S. or B.S. in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or military equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and successfully follow medium to highly complex work instructions.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong computer skills and fundamental knowledge of computer networking.
  • Strong customer relation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for daily travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with Diagnostic or Life Science instruments.
  • Hands-on Flow Cytometry experience.
