About the position

As a Field Service Engineer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to customers by performing installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced analytical instrumentation systems. This role is crucial in supporting scientific breakthroughs and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of optical emission spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence, and x-ray diffraction systems.
  • Use customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks.
  • Inspect malfunctioning products, analyze inspection findings to resolve the source of the problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Serve as a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience, with a strong preference for a Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, particularly working with analytical instrumentation.
  • Working experience with optical emission spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence, and x-ray diffraction is a strong plus.
