About the position

The position involves a range of responsibilities primarily focused on the operation and maintenance of equipment within a manufacturing environment. The individual will be proficient in the primary toolset and will demonstrate the ability to acquire additional systems and applications as needed. The role requires performing startup activities through Tier II with limited support and completing qualifications with minimal assistance. The technician will be responsible for completing quality repairs and actively responding to fabrication issues by communicating with engineers in other locations and participating in escalation conference calls. They may also initiate or participate in projects aimed at driving down costs or increasing uptime, and will be expected to carry out action plans and report findings accordingly. In addition to technical skills, the position requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The technician will assume responsibility for ensuring excellent relations within their assigned area, demonstrating a strong interest and knowledge of the customer's business. They will build and maintain customer satisfaction through clear, consistent communication and the sharing of collective knowledge. The role demands the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure or ambiguous situations, soliciting customer feedback and understanding the impact of various actions and decisions on the account. The technician will also be responsible for developing and executing corrective action plans as necessary. The position is physically demanding, requiring extensive walking, standing for extended periods, and working in tight spaces. The technician will need to perform various physical tasks such as bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs. They must also be able to distinguish between colors and work in environments with potentially difficult noise levels. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory due to the clean room environment, which includes coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields. Overall, the role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal abilities to ensure the effective operation of equipment and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup activities through Tier II with limited support.
  • Complete qualifications with minimal assistance.
  • Complete quality repairs and actively respond to fab issues by communicating with engineers in other locations.
  • Participate in escalation conference calls and may initiate or participate in projects to drive down costs or increase uptime.
  • Carry out action plans and report findings.
  • Verify operational quality of system equipment.
  • Follow all checklists and procedures, ensuring correct revisions of procedures and schematics are available prior to performing work.
  • Identify procedural issues as necessary.
  • Perform most retrofits on equipment and assist in process issues.
  • Apply diagnostic techniques and use documentation and test equipment with assistance from senior engineers.
  • Assume responsibility for full customer satisfaction and maintain excellent relations within assigned area.
  • Build and maintain customer satisfaction through clear, consistent communication and sharing of collective knowledge.
  • Solicit customer feedback and understand the impact of various actions/decisions on the account.
  • Develop and execute corrective action plans as needed.
  • Perform Best Known Methods (BKM) and engage in knowledge management systems.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and demonstrate safety as a value.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 4 - 7 years of experience in a related role.
  • Skilled in a range of processes, procedures, systems, and tool sets to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Ability to provide informal guidance and support to more junior team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to provide solutions in atypical situations.
  • Ability to explain technical information within the team.
