About the position

As a Field Service Engineer III at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing the performance of equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. This position requires you to work both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites around the globe, making you the face of Applied Materials and a vital part of a diverse and dynamic team. In this senior-level role, you will work independently while also mentoring junior engineers, contributing to the development and support of technology that is essential for the production of semiconductor chips and related materials. Your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and upgrading Applied Materials equipment, which supports multimillion-dollar production systems. You will be expected to follow established procedures and task plans to test equipment, diagnose issues, and resolve technical problems effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing necessary job documentation, adhering to safety training, and ensuring compliance with environmental and COVID-19 guidelines. Your role will also involve training junior engineers on safety protocols and troubleshooting procedures, fostering a customer-first mindset throughout the team. Candidates for this position must be fully authorized to work in the US, as visa sponsorship is not available. The role demands a commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to adapt to various working conditions, including the potential for international travel and the need to support rotational shifts based on customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment.
  • Follow procedures learned during training and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, maintaining a 'customer first' mindset.
  • Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines.
  • Train junior engineers on site-related safety, troubleshooting procedures, and developing a customer-first mindset.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate's degree.
  • 4-7 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.
